Archive for January 2020Things Aren't Always What They SeemPosted January 26, 2020 9:25 AMIf you drive, you know at some point, something's going to go wrong with your vehicle. And sometimes, it's pretty easy to figure out what's wrong, like a flat tire. But sometimes your vehicle's symptoms can be really puzzling. One driver in MI was heading to work on a hot July day and noticed when he pressed the accelerator, sometimes it wouldn't do anything. He also noticed his cruise control wouldn't work and his traction control light was constantly on, very unusual. He was trying to figure it out, but none of it made any sense. His cruise control had always worked perfectly, his traction light never had gone on before and there was never any issue pressing on the accelerator. It was time to take his car in for a professional diagnosis, and boy, was he surprised that it was a freak accident he'd had the previous WINTER that was the root of his problems. You see, in January, his car had slipped on ice when he was in reverse and had gently tapped a tree. That caused a tiny crack in his rear stoplight. That crack had gone unnoticed until that July day. Turns out a summer rain allowed water to seep into the taillight casing, so this time when he drove to work, there was enough moisture inside it to cause his stop light to stick on. When the stop light is on, the car's computer is programmed to act as if the driver is pressing the brakes. It also disables the cruise, accelerator and cruise control when the brakes are on, producing all of the symptoms. Replacing the stop lamp switch fixed everything. So, while some things that go wrong with your vehicle are pretty obvious, many seemingly defy all logic. That's when a trained technician can scope things out, replace the right part and get you going again. Franklin Auto Service

Cooling System ComponentsPosted January 12, 2020 8:37 AMToday we want to talk about a system in our vehicles – the cooling system. It's one of those things that Franklin auto owners don't give much thought to until it fails and then they're stranded by the side of a road in MI. Check Your Shocks and Struts at Franklin Auto ServicePosted January 5, 2020 8:26 AM
Today we're talking to Franklin drivers about shocks and struts. They're so easy for MI folks to forget about because they last so long and wear out so slowly. But your shocks are really responsible for keeping your tires on the road – so they're very important. There's a difference between shocks and springs. Springs support the weight of the vehicle, keeping it suspended up off the axles. The shocks moderate the rebound motion as wheels hit bumps. Now a strut combines a shock and a coil spring in one compact unit. It's best to replace all four shocks at the same time. That way you'll have even, predictable handling at all four corners. Anything less could be dangerous. Visit Franklin Auto Service to have your shocks and struts inspected by a professional.

What our clients are saying about us
We have established longterm and stable partnerships with various clients thanks to our excellence in solving their automotive needs!
My vehicle broke down right in the middle of Maple and Telegraph. Called tow truck company and as I waited I googled auto repair shops near by. Franklin Autos had the highest reviews and was close by. The reviews were well deserved! Fixed my car at a very fair price and while I was scrambling with Uber to get back home the owner was intuitive and generous enough to say "you want a loaner"! In this day and age WoW-good work, fair price and empathy has my business for as long as I am in MI.
The most honest people I have ever dealt with! !
